Holdstrōm · The Sōren difference
Many cabinets cool by convection. Sōren does not, and the difference decides how the leaf matures. Together they are the difference between a cabinet that stores cigars and one that ages them.
Thermoelectric convection cabinets can only pull a few degrees below the room and struggle to hold humidity. Sōren runs true compressor refrigeration, holding your set point through summer heat.
Cooling-only cabinets drift the moment the room turns cold. PTC heating lets Sōren hold your set point through winter, season after season.
Each travels its own dedicated air channel. Cooling never dries the cabinet and humidifying never warms it. 360° surround airflow carries that climate around the whole interior, with no wet pockets and no dry corners.
Stability
Adjustable set point · 16–22 °C · 60–80 % RH
Sōren corrects drift before it becomes change, so the cabinet never jumps between extremes. No heat shock, no humidity shock. Your cigars rest undisturbed, season after season.
Cooling and humidification run on separate channels. Adjust one and the other holds.
An inverter compressor modulates its output instead of cycling hard on and off. No temperature spikes, lower noise, lower power draw.
On Sōren Pro and LuxAn on/off thermostat overshoots, then undershoots. The Sōren PID controller learns from historical fluctuations and corrects before a change becomes meaningful.
Uniformity
A cabinet can hold a perfect average and still age every shelf differently. Sōren circulates air and humidity so the lowest cigar lives in the same climate as the highest.
Air and humidity are distributed in three dimensions around the interior instead of falling from a single vent. No wet pockets, no dry corners, no frost.
A self-regulating ceramic element warms the cabinet floor the way underfloor heating warms a room. Rising warmth carries moisture upward instead of letting it pool at the base.
Humidity leaves an S-shaped membrane as vapour, never as mist, and never wetting the leaf. The folded surface gives up to twenty times standard humidifying output.
Purity
Ageing rewards patience and punishes intrusion. Ammonia, light, and condensation are each turned away before they can dull what the years are building.
Cigars release harmful ammonia as they age. A nanoscale water-ion generator decomposes ammonia into harmless water vapour.
Shelves are full Spanish Cedar, the wood the ritual has always asked for. It deepens flavour, buffers moisture while staying breathable, and resists insects, rot and mould.
Full Cedar lining, an option on Sōren LuxLow-emissivity glass blocks light transmission and resists condensation, so neither sun nor damp ever touches the leaf.
Living with it
At rest ≈ 35 dB
A cabinet should serve the ritual, never become one. Sōren runs at the hush of a bedroom at night, waits months between refills, and answers from wherever you are.
A back-pressure compressor, matched to the gentle cooling a humidor needs, runs quiet with low vibration. A loud conversation is 60 dB.
MBP on Sōren and Pro, HBP on LuxA bottom-mounted recirculating tank holds weeks to months of humidity between refills. It lifts out for cleaning so nothing settles in the water.
A black LCD panel adjusts climate without opening the door. A fingerprint lock secures itself on close, and the app draws temperature and humidity as a live curve, from anywhere.
